Master Class - Ireland
View all articles

On Saturday 23rd March, Master Trevor Nicholls VIII and Lee Hollingsworth VI held a 2 part Master Class at the Talbot hotel. This was a well balanced event with the first half focussing on the technical aspects of Taekwon-Do followed by an intense sparring workshop in the afternoon. The training was beneficial and inclusive for both junior and senior level participants. We have to remember we have white belts as well as world class black belt competitors taking part so a credit to Mr Hollingsworth VI for delivering a win/win outcome within the 2 hours.

The session started with a series of vigorous warm up activities progressing to application of offensive, defensive and countering techniques later in the class. On a deeper level, aspects of the theory of power were touched on. For example, punching combinations, as well as activities testing reactions which require speed. Also, countering high section kicks, tested balance and once again concentration was required with counters. This dynamic workshop was jargon free, challenging and well recommended. Thank you UK ITF Ireland for arranging this event.
